In this section of the site we answer the most popular questions that our customers have about our poultry, services and delivery. If you can’t find the answer here don’t hesitate to contact us.
Do we have delivery restrictions?
Please note that we have some delivery restrictions, detailed below, for our different products, both poultry and equipment.
Poultry can be delivered to mainland UK destinations in England, Wales and parts of Scotland, as far north as a line between Oban and Aberdeen. If you live further north than this, please contact us to see if we can make a mutually convenient arrangement for poultry delivery prior to purchasing.
Chicken houses from the Deluxe range can be shipped to all UK mainland addresses as far north as a line between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Chicken houses from the Express range can be shipped to all addresses including northern Scotland.
If you order an item out of our delivery areas, we won’t be able to process your order and will refund your payment, less any processing costs incurred by our payment gateway provider.
How do I get a quote for delivery?
Place one or more items in your basket and you will be taken to the ‘basket’ page; type your full postcode into the box to receive your quote. Local delivery, within a 7.5 mile radius, is free on orders over £25.
Quotes are for the transportation of 1 to 5 birds. There will be an additional charge for more than 5 birds, as extra packing and boxes are needed to prevent overcrowding of the birds.
Do you ship at weekends?
Orchard Poultry DO NOT ship orders on Saturday, Sunday, or Bank Holidays.
Where do you ship to?
Orchard Poultry ship to mainland destinations in England, Wales and Scotland, but not to the Scottish islands, although we are happy to arrange for our courier to meet you on the mainland so that you may continue the onward journey for your poultry. We also ship to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, provided destinations are on the mainland. We do not ship to the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. Orchard Poultry do not ship to P.O Box or BFPO addresses.
Can you guarantee delivery dates?
Although Orchard Poultry use all reasonable means to ensure that your order is delivered within a specified time, we cannot accept any responsibility for late deliveries due to circumstances outside of our control. We will do our best to inform you of any unexpected delay.
Other common delivery questions
Collection of poultry is allowed by the purchaser or a courier of their choice, but all responsibility for the well-being of the poultry resides with the purchaser from the moment the poultry enters your vehicle or that of your courier and they leave our premises. While Orchard Poultry allows collection of purchased stock, but we do not allow unaccompanied tours or inspection of our breeding stock to prevent contamination and the spread of disease by visitors.
Provided your order is correct and there are no health or delivery problems with your poultry on arrival, no returns or refunds are possible, because we cannot risk bringing contamination or infections into our flock, these rules are tough and reasonable but are necessary due to new Bird Flu rules and also the risk of spreading Bird Flu.
We normally deliver poultry to you using a DEFRA registered poultry delivery service; this ensures that your poultry will arrive in the best of health and infection free. Orchard Poultry is responsible for the health and well-being of all our poultry purchased until the point of drop delivery; this includes during transport by a courier selected by Orchard Poultry only.
Dispatch is within 28 days of your payment date. No Poultry or Equipment will be dispatched until full payment is made.
Your poultry may have traveled a considerable distance before they arrive at their destination. Whilst our courier is trained and will take responsibility for the welfare of the poultry during the journey, it is important that you’re there to take delivery, so that you can provide your new poultry with fresh water, food and allow them space to move about, so yes, you need to be there.

Health & Well-being
All poultry that leaves Orchard Poultry premises are healthy and vaccinated. Orchard poultry will not be held liable or responsible for any disease or contamination to purchased poultry by the purchaser’s own stock.
All Orchard Poultry birds are reared from good quality, healthy, Pure-breed and Hybrid stock, with many birds being reared from show quality stock. All poultry will be to best colour and pattern, as advertised. Orchard poultry will not accept responsibility for any show entries and outcomes of the poultry you purchase from us, as we cannot guarantee that the offspring of our breeding stock will be equivalent to their parents, We do not send out small thin birds with any health issues but also we do not accept returns for slight abnormality when no health issue is a concern, such as curly toes, as this is just a small very common cosmetic problem that happens during incubation and cause no health issue with the chicken, it dose seem to go unnoticed due to Feathered legs/feet, bedding/long grass and the chicken growing as well as all the others in the group, also slightly overshot or undershot beak is just a cosmetic problem, so we do not think its fair on the bird to dispatch it purely for these reasons, if these were health issue the birds would not keep up with the rest of the group and be thin at POL. But a very twisted beak could cause eating problems and a small thin unhealthy bird, so we wouldn’t send a bird like this out. Also chickens with missing feather most likely due to feather pecking is just a cosmetic issue so these birds are fit to sale and the feathers will grow back, unless bleeding or scaring is present then this could cause health issues so these birds would not be fit to sale. If you require only show stock from Orchard Poultry be prepared to pay up to ten times the price of the prices we have displayed for our stock.
All chickens will be sold from POL point of lay (16 weeks+) up to the age of one year; from one year onwards poultry will not be selected for sale. The poultry for sale will be selected from the oldest birds of your chosen breed (always less than one year) down to the age of 16 weeks. we also sale day olds chicks but for pick up only, not for delivery by courier.
Orchard Poultry allows collection of purchased stock, but we do not allow tours or inspection of our breeding stock; this is to prevent contamination and the spread of disease by visitors.
